OHAUS Ranger Count 3000 Counting Scale for Fast, Accurate Parts Counting
High-Resolution Counting for Inventory, Packaging and Production
The OHAUS Ranger Count 3000 is a dedicated counting scale designed for applications where large quantities of small, similar parts must be counted quickly and accurately. Combining weighing, parts counting, checkweighing, checkcounting and accumulation functions, it is well suited to inventory control, packaging, kitting, receiving and production environments.
With up to 1:1,500,000 internal counting resolution, automatic Average Piece Weight optimization and a low-APW warning, the Ranger Count 3000 helps reduce counting errors even when individual components are very light.

Automatic Average Piece Weight Optimization
Accurate parts counting depends on establishing a reliable Average Piece Weight (APW). As additional pieces are placed on the platform, the Ranger Count 3000 can automatically recalculate and refine the APW. This Auto-Optimization process improves counting accuracy without requiring the operator to repeatedly create larger reference samples manually.
A low-APW alert warns the operator when an individual piece may be too light for dependable counting under the current conditions.

Three Displays Show the Information You Need at a Glance
The scale uses a three-window backlit LCD display that simultaneously presents weight, average piece weight and piece count. A centrally positioned count display, dedicated function keys and a full numeric keypad make everyday operation straightforward.

Three coloured LED indicators can also be used for checkweighing and checkcounting, providing an immediate visual indication when a result is below, within or above the selected limits. Audible alerts can be configured for supported checking operations.
30-Item Library for Frequently Counted Parts
The built-in 30-item library allows frequently used part information to be stored and recalled instead of being re-entered for every job. Depending on the stored setup, records can include:
- 12-digit part numbers
- Average Piece Weight values
- Checkcounting or checkweighing parameters
- Tare weights
- Accumulated weights or counts
This is particularly useful for repetitive warehouse, assembly and packaging operations where the same components are counted regularly.
Results in Approximately One Second
The Ranger Count 3000 stabilizes in approximately one second, helping operators move quickly from one counting or weighing task to the next. The combination of fast stabilization and dedicated counting functions can improve throughput when processing many containers, batches or part numbers during a work shift.
Portable Operation with Long Battery Life
An internal rechargeable lead-acid battery provides up to approximately 210 hours of operation between charges. Together with the integrated carrying handle, this allows the scale to be moved between receiving, stock rooms, production areas and packing stations without requiring continuous access to an electrical outlet.
The internal universal power supply accepts 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, allowing normal operation and battery charging directly from line power.
Connect a Second Platform for Larger Items
An optional second-platform interface allows the Ranger Count 3000 to be used with an additional weighing platform. This can be useful when a job requires greater capacity or a larger platform while retaining the counting functions and operator interface of the Ranger Count 3000.
Flexible Data Communication
A built-in RS232 interface is standard. Optional communication accessories add a second RS232 port, USB or Ethernet connectivity, allowing the scale to be integrated with printers, computers and other compatible systems.

Q&A
Why is Average Piece Weight important when counting parts?
The scale determines quantity by dividing the total net weight by the Average Piece Weight. If the APW is inaccurate, the resulting count can also be inaccurate. The Ranger Count 3000's automatic APW optimization progressively refines this value as additional pieces are added.
Which model should I choose for very small parts?
For very light individual pieces, choose a model with finer readability and a lower recommended minimum APW. The RC31P1502 provides 0.05 g readability and a minimum recommended APW of 0.005 g, while higher-capacity models trade some resolution for additional weighing capacity.
Can I save frequently counted products?
Yes. The scale stores up to 30 item records, allowing commonly used part numbers, APW values, tare information and checking parameters to be recalled quickly.
Can the Ranger Count 3000 work away from an electrical outlet?
Yes. Its rechargeable internal battery provides up to approximately 210 hours of operation between charges, making it suitable for mobile use around a warehouse or production facility.
Can I connect a larger weighing platform?
Yes. An optional second-platform kit allows a compatible external platform to be connected when more capacity or additional weighing space is required.
Can counting data be sent to a printer or computer?
Yes. RS232 communication is built in, and optional USB, Ethernet and second RS232 interfaces are available for integration with compatible printers, computers and data systems.
