Geneq inc. announces a redesigned, ultra-efficient battery for the SXblue receivers product line

SXblue is pleased to announce a battey upgrade for its receivers. For the last couple of years we have been collecting our clients’ feedback and working on a new, state-of-the-art battery design. The new battery is equipped with 4 Li-ion rechargeable cells that boost its capacity from 3900 mAh to 6000 mAh. It boosts the receiver’s autonomy by up to 50%, greatly increasing its field work efficiency. When fully charged, the battery can last up to 16 hours depending on the SXblue model and bluetooth connectivity.

The colored LEDs for the battery charge indicator have been enhanced for a better contrast even when working under sunny conditions. Like previous versions, the new battery is field replaceable and can be charged separately or while it is connected to the receiver. With only 6mm increase in thickness and the same weight as previous models, the user will not notice any change in handiness and ergonomy.

The new battery is compatible with all past SXblue II and III models and current iSXblue II+ GPS, SXblue II+ GPS, iSXblue II+ GNSS, SXblue II+ GNSS and SXblue Platinum. About SXblue For 15 years, Geneq Inc has been developing and manufacturing professional GNSS receivers and software products. The company is known around the world for producing high performance, long-lasting and affordable GNSS receivers. The SXblue brand has gained recognition as a state-of the-art line of products, proudly made in Canada. For more information, please visit the product page here

The GPS week is about to be reset.

Will your positioning products be ready?

On April 6th, 2019, the GPS week will reach the 1024 bit limit and reset to 0. Global Positioning System (GPS) signals provide accurate timing information, including the date. The timing information includes the ability to transmit the current week and the current number of seconds into the week. GPS receivers can then translate the date and time into a more common format; time of day, day, month, and year. The week number is represented by a 10-bit binary number. This limits the range of the week number to a value ranging from 0 to 1024.

All SXblue GNSS positioning products’ firmware will continue to count the week in succession. On April 6th 2019 the GPS week reporting in all SXblue GNSS products will go from 2047 to 2048. All SXblue products will continue to function properly without any issue. GPS week rollovers have been accounted for and implemented in all SXblue GNSS firmware builds available from us since 1999.
