GTI ColorMatcher color matching booths provide a controlled viewing environment for visual color evaluation, comparison and quality control. Multiple calibrated light sources allow samples to be examined under different lighting conditions, helping users make consistent color decisions and identify differences that may not be visible under a single illuminant.
Detect metamerism with multiple light sources
Colors that appear to match under one type of illumination can look noticeably different under another, a phenomenon known as metamerism. ColorMatcher booths make it easy to compare samples under multiple controlled light sources so these differences can be identified before products or materials are approved.
Five light sources for comprehensive color evaluation
Current ColorMatcher LED models include five light sources: artificial daylight (D65 or D50 LED),store lighting (3000K or 4000K LED),home lighting (2700K LED),black light blue LED and an optional source. Additional LED options include D50, 3000K and 3500K. Fluorescent ColorMatcher configurations are also available.
Neutral Munsell N7 gray viewing environment
The standard viewing surround is Munsell N7 neutral gray. This achromatic environment minimizes the influence of surrounding colors on visual perception, providing a more appropriate background for critical color comparison. Optional white and black inserts are available when evaluating very light, dark or highly glossy samples.
High-quality illumination for critical comparisons
Current ColorMatcher LED systems provide a high color rendering index of CRI Ra >98. Controlled illumination and a neutral viewing environment help provide repeatable conditions for comparing standards, production samples and finished products.
Automatic sequencing and light-source monitoring
ColorMatcher systems feature push-button light-source selection and automatic source sequencing for efficient evaluation under multiple illuminants. GTI ColorGuard 3.0 monitors light-source usage, helping users track operating time and maintain the lighting system appropriately.
Four standard sizes for different samples
The ColorMatcher series is available in four standard viewing-area sizes. The CMB-2028 provides a 19 × 28 × 20 in (48 × 71 × 51 cm) viewing area; the CMB-2540 provides 25 × 40 × 25 in (64 × 102 × 64 cm); the CMB-3052 provides 30 × 52 × 30 in (76 × 132 × 76 cm); and the larger CMB-3064 provides 30 × 64 × 30 in (76 × 163 × 76 cm).
Designed to recognized color-evaluation standards
GTI ColorMatcher systems comply with recognized visual color evaluation standards including ASTM D1729, SAE J361, ISO 3668, AATCC Procedure #9 and BS 950 Part 2. Each system is supplied with a NIST-traceable certificate of product conformance.
Flexible installation and storage options
Optional height-adjustable floor stands and storage solutions are available for ColorMatcher systems. These accessories allow the viewing booth to be configured for different laboratory, quality-control and production environments.
