Portable RL/Qd retroreflection measurement for road and airport markings
The Zehntner ZRM 6013 RL/Qd is a portable retroreflectometer designed to evaluate the visibility of road and airport markings. It measures both nighttime retroreflection (RL) and daytime visibility (Qd),providing two important measurements for assessing pavement-marking performance with a single instrument.
Measure nighttime RL and daytime Qd
The ZRM 6013 measures the coefficient of retroreflected luminance (RL),which characterizes the nighttime visibility of markings under vehicle illumination, as well as the luminance coefficient under diffuse illumination (Qd),used to assess daytime visibility. This combination allows road markings to be evaluated under both important viewing conditions.
Fast simultaneous measurements
RL and Qd measurements can be completed in approximately two seconds. The fast measurement cycle makes the instrument practical for repeated field measurements and systematic quality-control programs where numerous markings must be evaluated.
For dry and wet road-marking assessment
The instrument supports RL measurements under dry and wet conditions, allowing the performance of pavement markings to be evaluated under different surface conditions. It can be used during the day or at night and is suitable for both field and laboratory measurements.
Standardized measurement geometry
The optical system provides an observation angle of 2.29° for measurements according to EN 1436 and ASTM E2302, corresponding to an equivalent observation distance of 30 m using CEN geometry. An observation angle of 1.05° is provided for ASTM E1710 measurements. Qd is measured using diffuse illumination.
Large colour touchscreen
A 5.7-inch colour TFT touchscreen with LED backlighting and VGA resolution provides a clear interface for instrument operation and reviewing results. The transflective display is designed for good visibility under the changing lighting conditions encountered during outdoor measurements.
Store and manage extensive measurement data
With 1 GB of internal flash memory, the instrument can store up to approximately 1,000,000 measurements. Measurement data can be transferred to a computer through USB and managed using MappingTools software, supporting documentation, analysis and reporting for larger inspection programs.
Portable construction for field inspections
The anodized aluminium housing is designed for professional field use. The instrument combines portable operation with the measurement capabilities required for quality assessment of road and airport markings, while also being suitable for controlled laboratory measurements.
