Advanced RL/Qd measurement for road and airport marking visibility
The Zehntner ZRM 6014 RL/Qd is a professional portable retroreflectometer designed to measure the day and night visibility of road and airport markings. It measures both the coefficient of retroreflected luminance (RL) for nighttime visibility and the luminance coefficient under diffuse illumination (Qd) for daytime visibility, providing comprehensive marking assessment with a single instrument.
RL and Qd measurements in about two seconds
Intelligent electronics and precision optics enable ultrafast RL and Qd measurements in approximately two seconds. The ZRM 6014 supports individual measurements, averaging, wet-timer measurements and continuous measurements using an interval timer, making it suitable for both individual inspections and larger quality-control programs.
Measure dry and wet road markings
The ZRM 6014 measures RL under both dry and wet conditions and Qd for daytime visibility. It is designed for all types of road and airport markings and can be used in the field or laboratory. Profiled markings with thicknesses up to 12 mm can also be evaluated.
Standardized measurement geometry
The instrument uses a 2.29° observation angle for measurements according to EN 1436 and ASTM E2302 and a 1.05° observation angle for ASTM E1710. RL measurements use the applicable standardized illumination geometry, while Qd is measured using diffuse illumination.
5.7-inch colour touchscreen
A 5.7-inch colour TFT touchscreen with LED backlighting and VGA resolution provides an intuitive interface for instrument setup, measurement and review of results. The display is mounted on an adjustable operating arm for convenient use during field inspections.
Large internal memory and MappingTools software
The ZRM 6014 provides 1 GB of internal flash memory with capacity for up to approximately 1,000,000 measurements without pictures. USB connectivity enables data transfer, while the included MappingTools software supports mapping, data analysis and reporting. Measurement and report data can also be exported for further processing.
Advanced documentation options
Depending on the selected ZRM 6014 configuration, documentation capabilities can include GNSS geolocation, a high-resolution camera, compass and level measurement. These functions allow measurement results to be supplemented with location, images and additional information useful for documenting road-marking inspections.
Designed for efficient field inspections
A fold-away telescopic handle and wheels are standard features, allowing the ZRM 6014 to be moved efficiently between measurement points. The rechargeable Li-ion battery provides approximately 12 to 16 hours of operation depending on use, supporting extended inspection work without an external power supply.
