The Pack-Vac Leak Detectors help you guarantee to your customers that your packaging system is dependable once it leaves your facility.
Issues such as packaging material compatibility, sealing machine set-up, and seal reliability in high altitude trucking and airfreight are just some of the production variables that need to be taken into account. The manufacturing considerations are countless.
A systematic package testing system that incorporates our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors will allow you to quickly and reliably set-up packaging lines. The result: less downtime for machinery adjustments. Additionally, continual process monitoring with our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors will detect sealing problems before they snowball, thus improving production yield. Above all, our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors will catch defects before they get to your customers. Add an Electronic Controller for programmable vacuum levels and altitude simulation to be sure your packages are tested to the ideal conditions.
Straightforward Operation
Our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors allow the user to perform a vacuum test in less than 30 seconds. For most packages, the unit is partly filled with water for the test (burst strength tests can be done dry). Drop in your sealed package, close the lid, and engage the vacuum device. Now watch for bubbles. As easy as 1-2-3.
The Pack-Vac Leak Detectors can be used to perform a variety of ASTM test methods for detecting leaks and seal integrity.- ASTM D3078 Standard Test Method for Determination of Leaks in Flexible Packaging by Bubble Emission
- ASTM D6653 Standard Test Methods for Determining the Effects of High Altitude on Packaging Systems by Vacuum Method
- ASTM D4169 Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems
- ASTM D4991 Standard Test Method for Leakage Testing of Empty Rigid Containers by Vacuum Method
- ASTM D5094 Standard Test Methods for Gross Leakage of Liquids from Containers with Threaded or Lug-Style Closures
- ASTM F2096 Standard Test Method for Detecting Gross Leaks in Packaging by Internal Pressurization (Bubble Test) – Using our optional adapter
Choosing the Right Pack-Vac Leak Detector
Now that you know you need one of our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors, here’s how to find the right one for your application.Connection Requirements
Our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors generate vacuum in one of two ways depending on available utilities. The Venturi Vacuum Generator operates using compressed air. We recommend this set-up if standard dry plant air (60-80 P.S.I., 2-6 C.F.M.) is available. Ideal for abusive production environments. If compressed air is not available, we recommend the Electric Vacuum Pump. Our electric model comes equipped with a quiet and durable vacuum pump, 115 VAC standard (unless otherwise specified).
Size
Our Pack-Vac Leak Detectors are available in eight production models. Haug also can craft custom sizes, so there is always one to meet your needs. Not sure what size you need? Send us your package and we will conduct tests to determine the correct Pack-Vac Leak Detector for your application. Haug Quality Equipment is now producing the largest acrylic vacuum chamber style leak detectors on the market, with interior dimensions of 32″ x 26″ x 20″. With our new machining center, we can produce tanks even larger than that.
