Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection System

Certification and Your HACCP/GMP Quality Assurance Compliance Program HACCP and GMP compliance in the food and pharmaceutical industry requires that metal detector and x-ray inspection systems be installed at critical control points and are routinely QA (Quality Assurance) validated with the results documented. Paramount to this is using FDA compliant, independently certified, and NIST traceable standards.

Recommended “Made in the USA” products

Test Cards

Cards are available in two designs and are the most popular and economical validation standard used in the food processing industry. Its solid plastic construction facilitates cleanliness, unlike it laminated counterpart with its delamination and contamination issues. Its size is 55mm x 85mm (credit card size). The largest sample that can be utilized in this format is 6.00mm. Used to validate Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection Conveyor Systems.

Test Sticks & Wands

Probe Model metric size is 3mm x 10mm x 50mm. The largest sample size that can be utilized in this format is 3.50mm.

2" Long Model metric size is 10mm x 10mm x 50mm.
4" Long Model metric size is 10mm x 10mm x 100mm.
6" Long Model metric size is 10mm x 10mm x 150mm.
Sticks (also known as wands) are used to validate Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection Conveyor Systems when larger sizes are required.

Test Balls

Balls are available in 15mm, 19mm, 25mm, 32mm, and 38mm diameters and are manufactured with impact-resistant high impact-resistant plastic. The largest sample that can be utilized is 6.00mm. Used to validate Metal Detector Pipeline, Gravity Feed, or drop through systems.

Test Fobs

Fobs are 28.4mm x 54mm (a third of the size of our test card). The largest sample that can be utilized in our fob is 5.00mm. Fobs are used to validate Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection Pharmaceutical Systems.

Test Rods

Rod assembly has a color-coded imprinted plastic handle and 45.7cm (18") rod assembly with a sample visibly enclosed at the end of rod. The largest sample that can be utilized in the rod is 5.00mm. Can be used to validate any Metal Detector.

Pipeline Test Rods

Rod assembly 3.0mm (1/8") x 10.0mm (3/8") x 343.0mm (13-1/2") with sample visibly enclosed at the end of the flat rod. The largest sample that can be utilized in the pipeline rod is 5.00mm. Pipeline rods are primarily designed to be used to validate Metal Detector Pipeline Systems between the pipe and detector aperture wall.

Pharma Test Tablets

Tablet assembly is 5.0mm x 10.0mm x 25.0mm. The largest sample that can be utilized in the tablet is 3.50mm. Tablets are designed to be used to validate Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection Pharmaceutical Systems.

Pharma Test Disks

Disk assembly is 15.0mm diameter with certified grade 200 miniature ball visibly enclosed. The largest sample that can be utilized in the disk is 3.50mm. Disks are designed to validate Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection Pharmaceutical Systems.

Test Plugs

Plugs are available in 38mm and 51mm sizes. They are manufactured with impact-resistant high impact-resistant plastic. The largest sample that can be utilized is unlimited. Plugs are used primarily to validate Metal Detector Gravity Feed Systems.

All products will match those NIST-maintained measurement standards. A NIST certification of compliance number is labeled on all our products and NIST certificates of compliance are available free of charge.

All materials used in the manufacture of the metal detector and x-ray inspection system test pieces are FDA compliant and are cleared for contact with food products. All products meet FDA regulations 21 CFR 177.2470, 21 CFR 177.3297 and 21 CFR 175.105.

All precision miniature ball samples used in the products are AMBA, AFBMA, or ISO 3290 standards and tolerances certified.

Our low-density plastic carriers have absolutely no "product effect" and are "invisible" to detection and inspection systems, only the enclosed sample piece is "seen" or detected.

For ease of identification, all our products are clearly laser marked (not engraved!) and color-coded to the type of sample piece that is enclosed.
